| Editions | Akismet Anti-spam: Spam Protection · Akismet paid plan ($) | Jetpack · Jetpack paid plans ($) |
| Pros | Checks comments and contact form submissions against a shared spam database; Works with Contact Form 7 and Gravity Forms; Stats through a dashboard widget and REST endpoints | Many modules in one plugin, each switched on separately; Brute-force protection and an image CDN without extra services; Contact form with Akismet spam checks and entries kept in admin |
| Cons | Needs an Akismet API key from akismet.com; Commercial sites must buy a paid plan; Submitted content is sent to Akismet for checking | Needs a WordPress.com connection to work fully; Usage tracking runs once the site is connected, with no separate toggle found; Paid plans gate some features, such as multi-step forms |
