CYAN Backup
300+ active installs · Rated 4.1/5 · Updated November 4, 2025
A backup plugin that packs a WordPress site's files and database into a zip archive on an hourly, daily, weekly or monthly schedule. Backups can be copied to remote storage over FTP, SFTP or FTPS, and you can exclude folders such as caches. It suits technically minded owners who want simple scheduled archives. The plugin is free, and backup folders must be kept private by the site owner.
Pros
- Scheduled full-site zip archives
- Remote copy over FTP, SFTP or FTPS
- Folders can be excluded from the archive
Cons
- No built-in cloud storage destination (S3 and Dropbox code is absent)
- Remote copies need the owner's own FTP, SFTP or FTPS server
