ACF: Better Search
40,000+ active installs · Rated 4.9/5 · Updated August 18, 2026
A plugin that extends the standard WordPress search so it also looks inside content stored in Advanced Custom Fields. It works automatically by adjusting the search query rather than building a separate results page, and it can match whole phrases instead of single words. It suits sites that keep important text in custom fields. The plugin is free, and the developer accepts optional donations.
Pros
- Works through the normal WordPress search
- Choose which ACF fields are searched
- Option to match whole phrases
Cons
- Needs Advanced Custom Fields installed
- Slower on large sites since it queries post meta
- Donation prompts appear in the admin and readme
