Disable Search
30,000+ active installs · Rated 4.7/5 · Updated April 14, 2025
A plugin that switches off the front-end search in WordPress entirely. It hides the theme's search form, the search widget and block, and the admin bar search item, and any direct search request returns a not-found page instead of results. It suits brochure sites and other sites that have no use for search. The plugin is free, and disabled widgets and blocks reappear if it is deactivated.
Pros
- Ignores front-end search queries
- Removes the search widget, search block and admin bar search
- Small plugin with few settings
Cons
- Visitors who expect search get no results
- Front-end search is off for all queries, with no per-page option
