WordPress Importer
2M+ active installs · Rated 3.1/5 · Updated October 20, 2026
The official WordPress importer for WXR export files. It brings posts, pages, custom post types, comments, custom fields, terms and authors from another WordPress site into Tools > Import. It suits moving or merging content between WordPress sites. It does not move media files unless you choose to fetch attachments, and it does not import themes, plugins or settings.
Pros
- Imports posts, pages, custom post types, comments and terms
- Maps authors to existing users
- Can fetch attachments from the source site
Cons
- Only reads WXR export files, not other platforms
- Does not import themes, plugins or site settings
- Attachment fetching depends on the source site staying reachable
