Optimus
30,000+ active installs · Rated 4.2/5 · Updated March 2, 2026
An image optimisation plugin that automatically reduces the file size of images as they are uploaded to the media library. Images are sent to the vendor's server for compression and returned in optimised form, aiming to keep visual quality intact. It suits bloggers wanting smaller images without manual work. A limited free version is available, and paid editions for personal and professional sites lift the restrictions.
Pros
- Automatic compression on upload
- Bulk optimizer for the existing media library
- Free version for small uploads
Cons
- Uploaded images are sent to the vendor's server
- Free version has size limits; WebP and secure transport need Optimus HQ
- Licence key checked with the vendor
